"The Prayer" is a duet between Céline Dion and Andrea Bocelli. It is the second single from Dion's These Are Special Times album and first from Bocelli's Sogno. It was a promotional only release from March 1, 1999.
"The Prayer" won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song from the Quest for Camelot movie in 1999. It was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1999 and a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals in 2000. Dion performed it with Bocelli at both ceremonies.

First, "The Prayer" was recorded as two separate solo versions, Céline Dion's in English and Bocelli's in Italian. They appeared on the Quest for Camelot soundtrack in May 1998. The duet was included on both artists' albums, released a few months later. Dion's 2000 compilation The Collector's Series, Volume One also included it. A re-recorded solo version by Céline Dion (re-named "A Mother's Prayer") appeared on her 2004 Miracle album. Also, Andrea Bocelli performed the song alongside Heather Headley on the Under the Desert Sky CD/DVD.
The song was popular on the Adult Contemporary charts in Canada and the United States, peaking at #8 and #22 respectively.
Lyrics
The prayer
I pray youll be our eyes, and watch us where we go.
And help us to be wise in times when we dont know
Let this be our prayer, when we lose our way
Lead us to the place, guide us with your grace
To a place where well be safe la luce che tu hai
I pray well find your light
Nel cuore rest
And hold it in our hearts.
A ricordarci che
When stars go out each night,
Eterna stella sei
The light you have
I pray well find your light
Will be in the heart
And hold it in our hearts.
To remember us that
When stars go out each night,
You are eternal star nella mia preghiera
Let this be our prayer
Quanta fede
When shadows fill our day
How much faith theres
Let this be our prayer
In my prayer
When shadows fill our day lead us to a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so well be safe sognamo un mondo senza pi violenza
Un mondo di giustizia e di speranza
Ognuno dia la mano al suo vicino
Simbolo di pace, di fratern
We dream a world without violence
A world of justice and faith.
Everyone gives the hand to his neighbours
Symbol of peace, of fraternity la forza che ci
We ask that life be kind
il desiderio che
And watch us from above
Ognuno trovi amor
We hope each soul will find
Intorno e dentro
Another soul to love
The force his gives us
We ask that life be kind
Is wish that
And watch us from above
Everyone finds love
We hope each soul will find
Around and inside
Another soul to love let this be our prayer
Let this be our prayer, just like every child need to find a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so well be safe
Need to find a place, guide us with your grace
Give us faith so well be safe la fede che
Hai acceso in noi,
Sento che ci salv
Its the faith
You light in us
I feel it will save us
